Another car hauling train
Getting on the train
Closed the door up and we took off
I arrived in Paris at 4:30pm on Friday and I only had to wait for Caine for like 5 minutes (it was a miracle). I also kind of came up behind her and scared her half to death, but she seem pretty happy to see me after that :).
We rode the train back to Caine's apartment where were made homemade macaroni and cheese and downed an entire french bread sword (probably has a better name, but this will do). Then we decided to take a walk and see the French night life! However we did not make it two blocks, and we had to stop for some French hot chocolate!
After the hot chocolate and a stroll around Caine's neighborhood, we retired to Caine's apartment for some much needed rest.
The next day we toured Paris! We started out late, partly because of me, but mostly because of Caine (just kidding Caine). We saw the Louvre Pyramid, the Arc de Triomphe, rode the La Grande Roue, and yes even made it to the summit of the Eiffel Tower!
Caine actually looks like she is holding it haha guess who was taking the picture
Pretty cute :)
Caine looks like Rapunzel of of Tangled
Football anyone?
I know looks like a post card right

We were on top of the Eiffel Tower, what else was I going to do high five her haha
The Hunch Backs of Notre Dame
After an amazing day of site seeing, we decided to stop and eat at a Pizza joint on the main drag of Paris. Man there were a lot of people to watch, it was a lot of fun. People in Paris aren't quite as friendly as the Jolly Ol' Brits.
The next day, Sunday, we slept in until well 1, I mean give me a break, I was up until three ordering tickets for Caine and I to go to Italy this upcoming weekend. Think Caine stayed awake to help me? Um...no she was out, barely coherent enough to give me her debit card so I could pay for her ticket. But...come on guys she tried :) (love you Cainer). Anyways, after a late start, Caine and I did a bit more site seeing before I had to get on my bus to go home. It always sucks saying good bye, but it is easier knowing it is only going to be a week until I get to see her again and not 6 weeks.
I arrived back in Birmingham at 10:35 Monday morning, and it was back to another....eh....yeah it was a pretty dull week after that weekend. But not to worry, Friday it got much better when I went to the airport to pick up Caine for her weekend in Birmingham. Friday night was pretty laid back, because Caine didn't get in until 9pm, but we did get to Skype Clay and Heather, some good friends of ours from Iowa State. Probably some of the funniest people I have ever met, and they don't even have to try.
Saturday morning, we got up at 5am to meet up with the other international students to hope on a train to go see York, England. As far as sight seeing goes, York is pretty common, but having Caine there and my international friends made it that much better! We started off on the free waling tour, but I really didn't hear much of what the guy was saying because we stood in the same spot for over 30 min and I was freezing. I mean come on why even call it a walking tour!
A few things we saw from our 30min stand still
So after we ducked out of the walking tour group, we went and found a free art museum to putts around in while we warmed up. I'm so cultured right!....maybe not
Another great candid shot :)
After lunch, we decided to tour the York Minster, a big church that looks like the Notre Dame. We then decided it would be a good idea to climb the 275 stairs to the top! Its was a long ways up, and somebody farted in front of me. The view from the top was cool but limited do to the snow storm rolling in.

See the water was freezing in mid air, it was that cold

Monica from Canada and Caine
After that we made our way over to the York Shambles, the most visited street in the UK. Probably because it looks like it came straight out of Harry Potter.
After I finally dragged Caine away from all the "cute little shops" we headed for the Castle Museum where we walked around a bit and then had a big hot chocolate! Caine seemed to like it.
After that, we had a little time to kill so we headed to the National Train Museum.
Saturday night after we got back, I wanted to show Caine the fun side of Birmingham, so we went out dancing with some more of my international friends! Gate Crasher was featuring Dutch Invasion, so it was a pretty sweet night!
Sunday was pretty short, because of course we got up late again. I took Ciane into the City Center so she could see the Bull, and we got some lunch before she left on her flight back to Paris.
Once again it sucked to say good bye, but another dull week, and Caine and I will be off to Venice, Italy for Carnevale!!! So I guess that catches all my listeners up on my adventures. I hope everyone is doing well, I can't wait to see you all again!
Cheers,
Tym
